Start where you are
What's been on your mind lately?
You don't need the right words or a diagnosis to reach out. Pick whatever sounds closest.
Racing thoughts at night are one of the most common reasons people reach out. Therapy helps you understand what's keeping your mind on high alert, and gives you ways to let it rest.

Pick a 15-minute time that suits you. No referral, no payment details, no forms to fill out first.
2
See if it feels right
Talk with a therapist about what's going on and what you're hoping for. It's a conversation, not an assessment.
3
Meet from your space
Your first session happens online, from wherever you have privacy. The couch, the kitchen table or a parked car all work.
4
Check in as you go
Your therapist checks how it's going along the way. If the fit isn't right, you can switch, and no one takes it personally.

A note from our founder
To whoever is reading this,
If you've found your way here, part of you is already looking for something to feel different. That takes more courage than most people give themselves credit for.
I started NAR because I kept meeting people who had spent years doubting their own voice, and who deserved somewhere safe to hear it again, without having to leave home to find it. Here, healing begins with remembering who you were before you learned to make yourself small.
Every therapist at NAR works by a few simple promises. We'll meet you where you are. We'll go at your pace. And if something isn't working, you can tell us, and we'll change it.
Whenever you're ready, we're here.

Many extended health plans cover psychotherapy
We work with clients on plans from Blue Cross, Canada Life, Manulife, Sun Life and others, and you'll get a receipt after every session. Coverage depends on your plan, so it's worth checking first. Send this to your HR team or insurer:
Hi, I'd like to check my coverage for psychotherapy. Are sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist, including a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), in Ontario covered under my plan? What's my yearly maximum, is there a limit per session, and do I need a doctor's referral?
Questions
The ones people are a little embarrassed to ask
What if I cry the whole time?
Then you cry. It happens far more often than people expect, and it's a normal part of the work. Keep tissues nearby and know that nothing you feel will surprise your therapist.
Do I need to know what's wrong before I book?
No. "Something feels off" is a perfectly good place to start. Figuring out what's going on is part of what the first few sessions are for.
What if I don't click with my therapist?
Tell us. Fit matters more than almost anything else in therapy, and we'll help you find someone who suits you better. No one takes it personally.
Is it weird to do therapy from my car?
Not at all. Lots of people use a parked car because it's the most private space they have. A pair of headphones helps.
Does online therapy actually work as well?
For most people and most concerns, yes. Many clients find it easier to open up from a space where they already feel comfortable, and there's no commute before or after a hard conversation.
Who will know I'm in therapy?
Only you, unless you choose to share it. What you say in session is confidential, with a few legal exceptions around safety that your therapist will walk you through at the start.

Start with 15 minutes.
No pressure, no commitment. Just a conversation to see if it feels right.
